Our Lady of the Rosary

From today’s Scripture: “[The scholar] said in reply,‘You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your being, with all your strength, and with all your mind, and your neighbor as yourself.’”—Lk 10:27

Today we remember the story of the Good Samaritan, who stopped to help the man beaten on the road. He shows mercy to a stranger. In the Jewish world Samaritans were considered inferior; in other words there were no good Samaritans. This man was and still is a great example to us. Others passed by, too busy, not wanting to get involved. “It is this man’s problem,” not mine. That is not Christian.

The Good Samaritan shows us that angels are all around us. Jesus shows us mercy and kindness each and every day. In our busy lives we are called to be those angels of mercy. Can we look around each day to see those in need? Jesus needs us to continue his mission of mercy and love to our brothers and sisters.

Let us pray: Lord Jesus, open my heart to the needs of those around me. Today, and every day, help me to build your kingdom.
