25th Thursday in Ordinary Time

From today’s Scripture: “Vanity of vanities…vanity of vanities! All things are vanity! What profit has man from all the labor which he toils at under the sun?”—Eccl 1:2-3

For people everywhere, it’s common to feel the weariness of daily work, the daily grind. For the wealthy it might be boredom, but for the rest of us it’s the day in, day out of our regular jobs or other responsibilities. How do we put things into a bigger perspective? Today’s scripture goes on to talk about nature: “…the world forever stays. The sun rises and the sun goes down…” Spending time with God’s creation can be so refreshing and can restore our weary soul.

Let us pray: Lord, let me notice your natural world today. May my reflections on all that is passing lead me to you, who is eternal, who loves me without limits. Free me from anxiety.
