From today’s Scripture: “Say not to your neighbor, ‘Go, and come again, tomorrow I will give,’ when you can give at once.”—Prv 3:28
Sometimes I meet a down-and-out person on the street. It is so easy to analyze a person’s request for help. Will they really use the money I give them for something necessary or will they use it for something harmful (like alcohol or drugs)? We need to have prudence. But sometimes prudence can override the opportunity to be compassionate in the present moment. It’s sometimes a tough call, but we should err on the side of mercy.
Let us pray: Lord, help my hands to open easily to help my neighbor in need.
